What Stretches help your Headaches?

Headaches are often linked to muscle tension, poor posture, stress, and neck stiffness. These stretches may help reduce tension and improve mobility:

Neck Stretches

  • Chin tucks
  • Upper trapezius stretch
  • Levator scapulae stretch
  • Gentle neck rotations

Shoulder & Upper Back Stretches

  • Doorway chest stretch
  • Cat-cow stretch
  • Child’s pose
  • Thoracic extension stretch

Jaw & TMJ Relaxation

  • Controlled jaw opening exercises
  • Tongue-to-roof-of-mouth relaxation
  • Masseter muscle massage

Posture-Based Stretches

  • Pec stretches for rounded shoulders
  • Scapular retraction exercises
  • Foam roller thoracic stretches

Relaxation & Mobility

  • Deep breathing exercises
  • Yoga poses like forward fold and seated twist
  • Gentle daily walking and movement

These stretches may be especially helpful for tension headaches and headaches related to neck tightness or “tech neck.”

If headaches are severe, sudden, worsening, associated with dizziness, vision changes, numbness, weakness, fever, or after trauma, medical evaluation is important.
