Can a Chiropractor help with my Elbow Pain?

A chiropractor might help with elbow pain—but it depends on what’s actually causing the problem.

Elbow pain is often linked to conditions like Tennis Elbow or Golfer’s Elbow, which involve overuse of the forearm muscles and tendons. Chiropractors don’t just adjust spines—they also treat joints and soft tissue issues throughout the body, including the elbow, wrist, and shoulder.

Here’s where a chiropractor can be useful:

  • They may perform joint adjustments to improve how your elbow, wrist, or shoulder moves
  • Use soft tissue therapy (like massage or myofascial release) to reduce tension
  • Recommend stretches and strengthening exercises to support healing
  • Look for contributing issues—like poor posture or repetitive strain from work or sports

However, there are some limits:

  • If your pain is from a tear, fracture, nerve compression, or severe inflammation, you may need imaging or care from an orthopedist or physical therapist
  • Not all elbow pain responds well to adjustments alone

A good rule of thumb: if your pain has lasted more than a couple of weeks, is getting worse, or includes weakness, numbness, or swelling, it’s worth getting a proper diagnosis first—whether that’s from a primary care doctor, sports medicine specialist, or physical therapist.
